Location
Sandown is just close enough to major points of interest, but just far enough way to not be burdened by them. Located in the Southeastern part of Rockingham County, Sandown is:
Eight miles from the entrance to Route 495
Nine miles from the entrance to Route 93
19 miles to Manchester Regional Airport
42 miles north of Boston, MA
33 miles south of Concord, NH
20 miles from the Seacoast.
The town is also located near Routes 125, 28, and 111, providing you with convenient access to shopping and urban centers.
Recreation and Nature
Sandown features numerous recreational areas including the Roy L. Miller Recreational Facility, the Edward C. Garvey Recreation Facility, and Seeley Park & Beach. Parks like this host baseball fields, basketball courts, playgrounds, soccer fields, etc. In addition to these great parks, Sandown is also home to Phillips Pond, which has a public water access point for boats, kayaks, and canoes. Portions of the Rockingham Recreational Trail runs through the town as well, which offers open space for biking, snowmobiling, running, or simply enjoying an afternoon walk.
Great for Children
The parks and recreation division of Sandown features some amazing programs that are family-friendly and child-oriented. Kids and teens can join local organizations like the rec sports and the Sandown ski club. They also feature local children’s programs that teach children new skills like the cooking for kids' program and a babysitter course.
Great for Adults (and Seniors)
Sandown isn’t just a great place for kids to grow. It’s also great for adults! The town of Sandown offers adult programs such as ski club, and dance and yoga sessions to get residents active and social. Sandown recreation and the Vic Geary Senior Center also host a variety of activities like bus trips, bingo, knitting groups, card players group, and more!
